But then, having a baby is cushy number from a benefits point of view and most of these people had no job prospects here

I don't think that it is as easy as the Daily Mail make out, but then that was not their main motive anyway.

Its is/was in my village. A select number of girls would leave school pregnant who otherwise would have had little or no prospects. They get a grant to buy baby goods, a council house technically rent free, no other bills other than to add a fiver to their gas and electric cards when the giros arrived in the post. 11 years down the line they've had at least one more kid, still dont work, rely on the state and parents for handouts yet still somehow manage to spend the GDP of a small nation on fags and booze.

The majority of that all of which applies to my sister, some of her friends, some of the people I went to school with and to some extent my ex.

Perhaps if parents couldn't kick out their kids to the state until the age of 25 that they may pay more attention to their upbringing. Obviously exceptions would need to be accounted for.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Yes eleven years ago that was possible. Though they will have to find work after 5 years now, though popping out another random sprog will ease that reality. I think that applies to a lot of women.

That applies to women now. I will accept that they will have had ulterior motives for getting pregnant.
