Snowy's installed - so far so similar, but it is currently indexing so that is probably slowing things down a little.

went to the Apple shop at the Trafford centre Friday night to pick up a copy. It was bloody mayhem. Apart from the place being full of kids playing flash games on all the Macs, there were about 15 people in the queue at the 'tills'. This was like 10 minutes before closing time. I really couldn't be arsed, especially since buying anything from the Apple shop takes ages. So I went to watch 'The Hurt Locker' instead. By the way; bloody hell that's a film. I haven't walked out of a cinema feeling so beaten up since I watched The Killing Fields.
I'll nip into the Arndale in Manchester and pick up a copy next week. I can't install it until RapidWeaver gets updated anyway.

Would have been a good idea but they didn't appear to be letting people do that. All the copies of SL on the 'shop floor' were the family pack or server(?). All the single licence copies were in stack by the till iMacs and if you wanted one, you had to join the queue and ask for one. I suppose the logic being if they hadn't managed it a bit, all the staff would be tied up by people buying SL and nobody would be getting served/helped at anything else. Given my previous experience with the reliability of those PDA scanners they use (windows mobile don'tchaknow) and the strain their wifi network was under between all the shoppers and the various chavy types viewing their facebook page on the shop's bandwidth, I didn't feel like sticking around to see how things were working out. I have to say, I'm somewhat surprised they're not selling it online as a disk image from the Appleshop. It's not like there's a licence key to type in or anything. I'm pretty sure if I could be bothered to check, I'd find it already up on the various torrent sites... Jon
