Yes because the standard of living for staff can be higher even with a lower pay up north. The problem is that people are fixated on a higher gross income and that damn property value in the south.

I agree. When I moved down south a couple of years ago me and SHMBO also looked at her moving north. Although down south the salary was higher (for us both) the extra cost of housing down south easily overshadowed that sal difference.

In the end it was the facts that not only are both of our families down south but all of her friends were as well.
