Got mine on Friday. I just wandered in to the Apple stockist in Guildford and the bloke went "Snow Leopard?", to which I repliced "nope just a keyboard" after his initial shock I bought it anyway

Would it be so hard to have some simple stuff in QuickTime X?!?! The two reasons I don't use it are playlists and float on top. VLC has them both but I prefer the new look of QTX.

Surely that's why you'd use iTunes? IMO, VLC != QT, however, VLC = (iTunes + QT)

Does iTunes have a way of playing avi videos (easily) and a float on top option?
I'll look into it!

Not sure about float-on-top, but seeing as QTX can play AVI files, I would assume that iTunes could.

Well, looks like I can't watch divx files with iTunes full stop. (without having to convert them first).
Hmm... and it has not float on top option.
I like to have something playing whilst I browse the internet or do my work etc... VLC has the float on top option.
Also QTX now has to have its preferences changed in the terminal. No preferences window?!

Doesn't itunes use Quicktime anyway? If you install DivX 7, you should be able to view them in Quicktime.

I can watch them in QuickTime. But I can't use playlists or "float on top". It is those two features I am looking for. I can watch any video file using VLC and it has playlists and float on top but just doesn't look very nice.

Apart from the QuickTime lack of stuff (which is a personal request to Apple) it is a very nice update. It is noticeably quicker over the entire system. Safari has had the bug removed that I reported when 4.0 came out. (If you set Safari to space 1 and move to another space then open Safari you were unable to type into the address bar). The finder is quicker. Apps open and close more quickly. Lots and lots of very nice updates!

i finally managed to bag a copy at the third attempt (more about that in a different thread). The packaging is rather inventive, I'll give it that. God knows when I'm going to get the time to install it though.
