I'm pretty sure the official twitter feed for Xbox posted that ALL preorders (up to a certain date) get FIFA. It's truly shocking if that is not in fact the case.

Is external storage essential when you have online game saves?

It's the size of the game installs - what they're marketing as an entertainment hub could see 500Gb of recordings and uncompressed files of every description before it ever saw a game install that's much bigger than the current gen's. The patches now run well into gigs :x

If they want it to be an entertainment hub then external storage is essential. My first Xbox could store music but was so limited with game saves that the music was deleted to make space for game saves.

Um. No. If they want that then it just has to be a decent or better DLNA client. There's no need for it to store all the data locally and a lot of people already have UPNP data stores with all their music and DVDs etc ripped to it.

But can you legally rip a DVD to an XBox? If it is something that you have bought to download then yes they should be geared up for streaming it. I ripped some music to my Xbox but not DVD's so do not know about that aspect.

Xbox One supports eight controllers at once

I'm not sure how often eight controllers would actually get used, but there you go.

GAME offers £40 trade-in for next-gen upgrades to COD, FIFA 14 and BF4

Erm, how much are they planning on charging for next-gen titles then? Or have I read that wrong?

Xbox One 'hasn't been rushed' to market, says Major Nelson

It's definitely been rushed in the sense that nobody thought through the consequences of their decisions.

Haven't checked in shops, as the only Game near me shut a while ago. However on Amazon the PS4/XBO games look to be roughly a tenner more expensive than their current gen equivalents. Not that I was planning on buying any of those games anyway...

The suggestion from a few news outlets has been that the game prices would stay the same, but then I guess as many developers and publishers were saying production could cost more... Either way, they're mad if they think folks will tolerate it for long.

I agree about being rushed in terms of some aspects, but this was predictable.

As for the next gen titles it must mean they expect to shift the old games with out much effort.

£10 more per game? They're expensive enough as it is.

And IIRC, the architecture is closer to standard PC fare than ever. It's just gouging for greedy and bad business models, I'd suspect.
