Exclusive games 'most important' when choosing a console, says survey

Spose it is the hardcore who would have replied; I know few people who get excited about exclusives myself :|

Is it really such a big deal? Many homes have both consoles. I did not get the PS3 but until then I had both sets of consoles from Microsoft and Sony and will probably get the PS4 before I get the Xbox One.

Quote:
The survey, given to GamesIndustry, polled over 2450 people who attended the Eurogamer Expo in September, asking them what they considered was the crucial aspect that would help them decide which next-gen console to buy.

The question does sort of lead you to that conclusion.

Quote:
with only 2% saying they were most concerned with which console worked best as a media hub.

Bad news for both as so few are seeing it in that way.

Actually, not. Both are considerably less of a media hub than their previous ancestors were. The Xbox does a bit, the PS4 does virtually none.

I know the MP3s and streaming will eventually be patched in, don't know about formats...

It does sort of kill the idea that these will become the media hubs in the home, which was the idea I thought. It seems that the public will only use them if they are less trouble than the alternatives.

I get the whole 'average' bit's workings, but I can't imagine many people actually buying three £40-50 games at the same time as their £350 console, not even the nerdcore. I think they're massaging the figures a smidge, maybe by stretching actual time of purchase. Christ, it's not like the games are that great.

A bit ignorant of me but:

1. Does this include consoles that had bundles attached?
2. Does this actually count only PS4 games (as opposed to PS3 or non-PS games)?
3. What does "software" mean when he states: three pieces of software per console? Why not "three games per console"?

I was also unsure of what was in each bundle. So did a search, and found this http://www.consoledeals.co.uk/ps4/

Most of the bundles have one or two games. Though if you were buying one for Christmas you probably would buy one additional game for say each of the kids so they would have something that they wanted. That could easily take it to three games, four if dad wanted a different game.

You have to consider digital purchases of course.

And you also have to consider the fact that EA executives talk an awful lot of [LIFTED] an awful lot of the time.

As anyone with half a brain expected, following the internet knickers-in-a-twist moment about issues with launch PS4s, there are a few Xbox Ones with hardware issues at launch. No doubt this will also soon be a crisis and have a '-gate' name. Also no doubt it'll be forgotten in a few weeks.

Apparently the same outage took outlook.com and Office365 down for a lot of people for a short while. Eggs, basket etc :).

You'd be hard pushed to notice the difference with Outlook!
