Xbox One teardown reveals huge, replaceable fan compared to PS4

http://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/co ... s4-1201650

Wonder what the noise levels are like between the two; the Xbox should be quieter if the fan's anything to go by. The PS3s are certainly loud IMO...

Every report I've seen says the One is very quiet indeed, unless you're watching a Bluray, then it can get a bit 'scratchy'.

Not tried a blu ray yet but general use and installing a game is extremely quiet. It's worlds apart from memories of owning an original 360 hurricane edition!

Xbox One online multiplayer gaming currently unavailable in UK (?)

They really are rivalling the PS3 launch for cock-ups of every description. Saw a headline for them giving away free games to compensate for broken consoles somewhere too.

Specifically Playroom? I'd suggest most of them. There's pretty much no reason to stream Playroom itself, it's a tech demo/toy to show off the camera. There's effectively nothing to achieve or show off. I'd suggest almost all of them were probably just using Playroom as a shortcut to stream something that was happening where the camera was pointed at. Whether that thing was illegal/improper or not I don't know, but Twitch very specifically say they are a game streaming service, not a webcam streaming service.

Begs the question of why streaming was allowed in the first place. Mind you, it's all garnering attention they might not have had otherwise too.

Streaming's built into the OS. It would probably actually have been work to disallow it. And it's a low budget tech demo curio, I doubt anything thought about it that hard.

It is a great feature for uploading games, but how many actually do? The ability to stream the room it was in must have been a feature request of the NSA?

Consoles will face 'stiff competition' in years to come - EA CEO

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/44 ... me-ea-ceo/

It'll depend on whether or not you can get console-style games on a cheaper box - anything else isn't remotely gonna threaten the big three. And lets not forget download sizes...

I think that they fear mobile gaming more than anything else. A console will cost hundreds of millions to develop and there are few who can come in and upset the console market.
