Microsoft addresses Xbox One game demo scarcity concerns

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/44 ... -concerns/

Didn't know that about the 360 demos, it's dumb scrapping it if it didn't have any adverse effects on the developers. I've bought any number of games cos of demos.

I must be one of the minority. I still play old PS2 and Xbox games, though not too often. Though I held off buying a PS3 until I found enough games that I wanted to buy. Not finding them I still have not bought a PS3. By having that backward capability I might have actually bought one.

I still play PC games from the 1990's.

Of course kids have £60 pocket money now.

While these games are getting ever more expensive to develop and will continue to do so especially if 4k TV and games are on the horizon. There will come a point where the games are outside the price range of many of their customers. It would not be so bad if people could rent the games.

The average age of a console owner is in their thirties.
Peoples perceptions of who plays games is totally out of kilter of those who actually play games.

I know that the average gamer is clearly older but there are plenty of kids who have consoles. There was a story of a guy who bought his 4 year old an Xbox One this week, and had some problem or other. ;)

Microsoft considered disc-less Xbox One after E3 2013

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/44 ... r-e3-2013/

Incredible, mid-2013 and they were still ready to bring the FAIL.

I don't mind the idea of discs or no discs. What I hate is having to keep swapping discs to play different games. I cannot believe that in a world where you can rip your entire CD collection/DVDs and play them on different media systems without the originals, you still need to keep the disc for games.

Until we have true worldwide broadband, I doubt we'd ever get rid of install discs. On a crappy 3-meg connection, it'd take forever to download anything (hence why I don't bother with the likes of Steam).

There is nothing different. If you could rip your games you should still keep the discs. I do not mind swapping discs over for console games. I am not playing more than one at a time. Also do not forget that many people do have capped broadband so if you wanted to play some game you might actually have to leave it running overnight in the hope that you can download it during the uncapped period, and hope that the game servers are not shut down for maintenance.

Playstation Now is Sony's Gaikai-based game streaming service

http://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/pl ... ce-1213195

What are the chances of the prices being sensible I wonder...

I think I'd be worrying whether we're ever going to get it before I started worrying about how much it costs.

I've got every Playstation bar no. 4 so I don't really care, and I'd hate to rely on my net connection anyway lol.

Once Playstation Now rolls out, Sony fans will be able to rent Playstation games by the title, or opt for a monthly subscription.

Sounds like the model that Microsoft considered more than a decade ago for windows and office.

The fact that you can play older games is good but the pricing needs to be really sensible to make it a success. Though how is Sony failboat program going?

PS4 games in the pipeline for PlayStation Now

PS Now: Sony recommends 5Mbps connection

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/44 ... onnection/

At the moment Sony can't even get their own store to work efficiently, never mind a streaming network that has a recommended 5Mbps requirement!
