E. Private PSN - there's a few available, just need to know how to do redirects on your router. Personally I'm staying PC only (except for my Game cube and phones lol) because there's so many unrelated "networks" that this kind of shenanigans simply will never be an issue.

Happy with the PS3 but then I've never gamed online with it, only on the PC for that.

I don't think I'll ever dispense with games forever. I've not yet settled to start a family so at the moment, will continue to play games. Given most of my mates (especially the ones I don't meet often) are online playing COD, I tend to play COD with them whilst at the same time catching up on things or just having a natter. Cheaper than ringing and the reception's often better. Having said that, in the past month, I've barely played the PS3 because of exams. As a result, I've managed to achieve a lot today that I ordinarily wouldn't. I will at least try to complete the games I've bought before I'd ever consider selling up. I stopped PC gaming once I went to uni as I just did not have the funds to upgrade the system. I bought a laptop and whatever would run on it, I would play, even if it was abandonware. Online was just too laggy at the time. The reports of RROD is exactly what put me off buying an Xbox. At the time, my gaming laptop deal fell through because the company kept faffing around. True, theu had issues with getting hold of the X9000 processor but even then they messed me about with respect to delivery. It got to the point where I cancelled the order. In a huff, I bought the PS3 over the Xbox and it was the RRoD that did it, even on the later models. I'm now going to avoid supporting sony any further. I'll continue to use the PS3 but I'm not convinced that I'm going to upgrade to the next version. +1. It's more for the casual gamer than any hardcore fragging. +1. Completely agree. I didn't buy the PS3 for BR itself but the fact that it had a blu-ray drive meant I was going to take advantage of it. As for online console gaming, the PS3 was my first foray in several years and the first on a console. Playing against AI is completely different to playing against others and the latter is far more interesting.

I do, but see the earlier reference to 'plug & play'. My opinion would be 'I do that [LIFTED] as my job, I've got no interest in having to do it so I can play a bit of SOCOM'. Gaming should be simple, it should be fun and it should just work. It should be no more effort to play FIFA than it should to just grab a football and head outdoors, otherwise why wouldn't you rather do that? No wonder all the games companies are running round waving their arms in the air about iOS/Android gaming stealing their dinner money. People are gravitating towards those platforms because they fulfil those three rules. Right now, PC & console games seem to be doing a considerably worse job of that. Steam is possibly getting to the point where it's an effective monopoly. Thankfully it does seem a generally painless experience. If only actually owning a PC could be equally painless, it might be a viable option. Jon

Am I missing something? Never had a problem with any PS3 game and the only problems I've had on PC is waiting for the latest graphics drivers.
Aside from that I've found both pretty painless TBH.

You just know those five "games" are gonna be crap ones that you wouldn't even take off someone else for free.
Give me the new BLOPs maps for free - that'd be much better.
