Quote:
A study by the University of Leeds has found women are choosing to work as lap-dancers because they can earn more than in traditional graduate jobs.

The findings also revealed that one in four lap-dancers has a degree.

Lap-dance club owner Peter Stringfellow and university researcher Dr Belinda Brooks-Gordon discussed the findings.

I am wondering if the government will use this to justify the graduate earnings premium as to why they can increase fees? ;)

And I'll bet even more are using lapdancing to help pay for the degree they're doing.

I would suspect a very large number nationally work in lap-dancing clubs. For students it has a much higher rate of pay than working in a shop or bar for minimum wage.

I know two well off daddy's girls who've stripped - one when "short of cash & for a laugh" at the end of her round-the-world holiday, the other to raise funds enough to join the peace core. Seriously. There's nowt wrong with it all.

+1.

Aye, I remember a few years back in Nottingham they were a bit concerned because quite a number of female students were turning to prostituion to fund their degree.

Mind you they seemed happy about it.

These lasses are just dancing, can't really see that it's much different from what most lasses do on a Friday night except they're bright enough to make money out of it.

Many girls are still using the prostitution route to fund their way through university. I used to date a lap dancer and not everyone can do it. She took some of her friends to do it and few made it past their first night. So it is not for everyone.

WTF? Are strippers/lap-dancers not worthy of degrees? :-s

If you can get a degree in lap dancing anywhere, I'm on the 'positions vacant' page on that University's web site like, now...

I was going to suggest there should be a degree level course in lap dancing - the economics, the sociology, the psychology, the fitness, the legal aspects, the history.

Yes I would think that the numbers who would want to teach might shoot up. :)
