Quote:
Labour leadership candidate Ed Miliband has hit back at veiled criticism from Lord Mandelson, insisting the party needed to change.

Mr Miliband's comments came after Lord Mandelson said Labour could be left in an "electoral cul-de-sac" if its next leader tried to create a "pre-New Labour party".

Although Lord Mandelson did not name Mr Miliband, his comments have been seen as a personal attack.

Being criticised by the Sith Lord will be a ringing endorsement for many.

Indeed. I'd still never vote for him though.

Yes bit of all the candidates he is the one I think might get the members support. New Labour was not reforming enough. It allowed with wealth divide grow and was too caught up in appearances. Look how badly the Cool Britannia fiasco went. It was all spin. The Coalition is just as bad, blaming Labour for the deficit when nearly every country in the world has been hit to some extent by the financial crisis. I doubt that the Tories would have been in a better position. While they may not have spent money they would have cut taxes so much that when the crisis hit we would have had just as severe a deficit.
