He sold his raffle ticket for a $48,645 Shelby GT500 for just $200. It seemed like a safe exchange – the ticket only had a 1% chance of winning. However, as fate would have it, just moments later, the very same ticket was drawn and the guy to whom he’d sold his ticket won a gorgeous new car.

Plonker. Selling your ticket moments before the lottery might seem like you are getting your money back but that is the chance you take.

It's not as if it's a real GT500 though is it?

Saw one of those parked in the player's car park at the Reebok yesterday. That means it was being driven by a footballer and therefore, under Top Gear Rules, is now a completely uncool car to own.

No, just the muscle car and load of ludicrous 'psuedo 4x4's like Audi Q7's i.e. big lumpen minibuses of things that claim to be four wheel drive and off road capable but would actually get bogged down if someone put too much gravel on the driveway of their mock-tudor mansion houses in Cheshire. Seriously, why do footballers drive such [lifted] cars? I mean, they can afford any car they like, why do they all buy crap ones?

Good rule except we need car dealers to enforce it. No Astons for footballers.

He bet against himself and lost

Mind taking anything UNDER $500 is stupid, $500 x 100 = $50k for the car, so he scammed himself, so deserves what he got
