And Southampton Council, Hants, has agreed to install more lights at the citys Millbrook roundabout to help traffic flow to a newly-built rubbish dump nearby.
Thirty sets of lights were installed two years using more than £2.5 million pounds of taxpayers money and since then the number has nearly doubled.
The busy roundabout beneath the Millbrook flyover takes motorists from the M27 motorway to the M271 into Southampton.
In addition motorists must also cope with ten toucan crossings at the roundabout's five approaches and a maze of cycle lanes.
The record-breaking lights were installed by Southampton Transport chiefs after a three-week consultation period with local businesses, motorists and residents.
The heavily-industrialised surrounding area is home to a number of vehicle dealerships, including Volvo and fast food chains including KFC on the Millbrook Trading Estate.
The other side of the roundabout, which also links onto the busy A33 and A35, has some residential areas.
But despite hundreds of people using the area on a daily basis, footfall remains low as most employees in the area drive to work.
Council plans to install yet more traffic lights have been criticise by motorists.

It is obvious that roads are designed by people who don't drive and who hate drivers

Also they keep putting crossings on roundabouts. Result: traffic jams.

Why should a pedestrian who wants to go straight across a junction have to go out of their way to keep crossings away from junctions?
