Vanquish creator Shinji Mikami isn't satisfied with Kinect's ability to track your gestures. Apparently, he wants to use eyeballs and eyeballs alone. Talking to PSM3 magazine, the father of Resident Evil said he didn't expect devices like Microsoft's Kinect and the PlayStation Move to have a real impact for a long long time. "I don't think motion controls will be in the gaming mainstream in the next ten years," he said. "When the technology gets to the point where you can just flick your eyeballs around and the computer can pick it up, you won't need a controller anymore. Obviously it's going to take a while to get there." Ubisoft's European MD Alain Corre is also sceptical about how much impact Kinect and Move will have. Last month he said that he didn't think the motion controllers would add the five years to current-gen consoles platform holders were hoping for. We've had a tinker with Sony's effort and put up a PlayStation Move review. Go and have a butchers. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/ar ... ?id=262695 ... I sometimes think motion control should fcuk off altogether when it comes to games ![]() |

I think that the Wii has opened up the possibility of new ways of controlling games. Some will be better than others. The gyroscopes on the iPhone mean that a whole new generation of games could be developed. Though I will probably accept it will be 10 years before they are mainstream. |
