SI Electronics has announced it is developing an arcade board that will support 3D displays which will not require the user to wear goggles. The board was originally announced at the AOU Amusement Expo and will use a new internally developed processor. According to SIE the processor will allow goggle free 3D displays and still output full HD visuals while retaining a small footprint and low cost. A video of this new arcade board will be shown at the Kaga Amusement booth at the Amusement Machine Show this Thursday. Microsoft's Chris Lewis recently said 3D gaming will take off when prices drop and the experience becomes more social. A recent survey revealed that only two percent of the British public are considering upgrading their living room experience with a 3D TV. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/ar ... ?id=263465 |

I remember seeing a holographic arcade game in the early 90's. You could put your hand through the image. I wonder why it never caught on. ![]() |

I think he’s right on that one. I feel that goggles can shut people out - not physically, but I think they are a psychological barrier.
As noted elsewhere, who’s going to upgrade their HD TV so soon? I bought one last December - I’m arsed if I’m going to buy a new TV until this one packs up. I hope that’s a long way off. It took me ages to tweak the picture to how I ike it ![]() |
