I'm surprised TalkTalk customers are even able to access websites.

Morons. When I saw what it did I thought that they were doing trials with Phorm.

It is the press and the Data Registrar not understanding technology. Checking a website for malware and warning a user, when they make a DNS request for that site, that it is infected is very different to inserting advertising into existing websites.

I'd be happy if my ISP put up warnings. Given the number of malware infected machines I have to deal with, because people always click on accept, it would save a lot of work.

As long as they only register the sites and don't do any additional logging of the user, I don't have a problem. As I said on the PC Pro article, I'd be happy if the ISPs blocked customers machines, if they are infected with malware and trying to send out spam or phone home, so that they could only visit anti-malware sites, until they had rectified the problem...

Well in which case the PR team at Talk Talk have done no good whatsoever. I can support a protective scheme like that but to say that it records where users have been makes it like Phorm. A protective system that does not record details just warns the user that it is a dodgy site is fine.

How does that work then?

It sounds cool. Do you divert your DNS requests to OpenDNS servers or something?

You put the OpenDNS servers either in your router settings or your PC under the network configuration.

208.67.220.220

You don't need an account to start using them, but there's more info on the website:
