A doctor who smuggled a woman into Britain to work for her has become the first person in Britain to be charged with modern-day slavery
aeeda Khan, 68, brought the woman from Tanzania and made her work in her home for no wages, according to a report in The Sun newspaper.
The 50-year-old woman reportedly slept on a mattress on Khan's kitchen floor.
Initially Khan and her late husband Zahid, also a doctor, paid the woman £10 a month but police confirmed that these payments had stopped.
Khan's home was in Harrow, north London, was raided earlier this year by detectives from the Human Exploitation and Organised Crime Command.
They were tipped off by a human rights charity.
She will face charges of trafficking people for exploitation at Westminster Magistrates Court on Monday.
Trading slaves was outlawed in the 19th Century.
However, up to 1,000 people including maids, fruit pickers and factory workers are made to work as slaves in the UK, according to human rights organisations.

Well if found guilty she should also be struck off permanently as well. It might also be good if they seize her home and all her assets in a proceeds of crime case and give them to the slave and allow her to return home with the money. It would deter potential slavers if they could be bankrupted as a result.

IF found guilty will almost certainly be struck off. Can't pre judge this though. Can't conndone the actions either.

Well you never know, she could still be allowed to practice. As for the trial that is dependant on the courts.
