Quote:
Customers of Nationwide, the UK's biggest building society, have been unable to access their online accounts after a glitch hit the system.

Nationwide said the problem, which was being investigated, had affected the system for most of Sunday, and followed routine maintenance work.

I’ve been saving with Nationwide for a very, very long time. In fact my savings stem from the account I opened with the Anglia Building Society which the Nationwide took over a few decades ago. You will note that unlike a number of other financial institutions, this building society has been quite stable in recent times.

I can't remember figures, but my Nationwide account got more interest last year than my HSBC account, and they have roughly the same amount in them (give or take £50) and have had the same amount in for a similar time, they are both normal saving accounts...

The only reason I have an HSBC account is because they gave me a debit card at 16 where Nationwide wouldn't. The customer service with HSBC sucks, but everyone is friendly at the Nationwide branches...

My bank posted a profit, when the others were posting massive losses...
