Sony has confirmed it sold "somewhere in the region of 1.5 million" PlayStation Move controllers in Europe alone in its first month on sale.

SCEE boss Andrew House told Bloomberg that Move has seen "very significant sales in the first month since launch, somewhere in the region of 1.5 million units for the new controller across just Europe."

This result has taken Sony by surprise. "The initial sales response has been so far in excess of our initial plan that we'll probably be looking at accelerating production," added House.

This success is likely to continue if a recent US survey, which found interest in Move and Kinect to be high, is anything to go by.

House also said Sony expects "very, very strong" Christmas holiday sales for its consoles in Europe, and for sales of the PS3 to exceed 15M in this fiscal year.

Wonder how Kinnect will do :)

I still suspect there will be a lack of good games. Or games that you'd actually be arsed using the Move controller over a pad...

I have to admit I bought one - at Tesco prices, not HMV or Game. It’s pretty good, but there needs to be games written for it, not “converted”. I tried a demo of Heavy Rain with it, and it doesn’t quite feel right. Simulating taking an asthma inhaler was odd, and TBH I’d prefer not to have to pretend I need one in a game too....

I’ve been playing the block stacking game Tumbler, and that really works well with the Move controller.

I'm always slightly torn on things like this - I'm all for them trying new things, but sheer greed usually sees the word 'revolution' bandied about or implied, and then you get a shedload of crap released at the expense of everything else :(

I will get one at some point, but I'm going to wait for the content to build up a bit.
