Apple boss Steve Jobs has announced that he is to take "medical leave" from the company.

Quote:
In an e-mail to employees he said he was taking the break to focus on his health.

He said he would continue as chief executive of Apple and be involved in any major decisions. Day-to-day running of the company will pass to Tim Cook.

In late 2008 to mid-2009 Mr Jobs was absent from Apple for six months to have a liver transplant.

More here.

Hope it's nothing too serious, bearing in mind how ill he's been before. :(

I think that it is so he can have his skeleton replaced by adamantium.

With his medical history, it could be anything from something potentially serious that just needs abit of time off to something very very serious.
Either way I'm sure his company will manage to survive. But it could be the begining of the end of Jobs being the "spiritual" leader of Apple

I think that he can still do quite a bit from hospital. I suspect that this was announced now as the iPad 2 and iPhone 5 have probably been finalised for production. He will leave the launch to his stand in.

I wish him a speedy recovery.

To be honest, Apple needs to be more than Stave Jobs. It has to become that beast now. If he were to step down from Apple, he’s left it in a hell of a more secure setting than when he got his hands on it again, and unless there are some truly incompetent replacements in the wings, Apple has the momentum to keep going for a long time to come.

Hope he’s feeling strong enough to return to the helm in the not too distant future.

Looking at the news reports online and watching the news report the story on TV, anyone would think he was dead already.

Skeletor will never die, not whilst his mortal enemy Monkeyboy still breathes

I’m getting that vibe too. Given his medical history, it’s not a big leap to make, and the media will be full of partial eulogies for a while.
