"It's outrageous - we believed that stuff in the Daily Fail about him being a Red", said one union member...

It's not about being a 'Red', it's about ASLEF being a bunch of twunts. It's one day in god knows how long everyone is planning on having a good time, and then they go and try to stick stick a spanner in the works for their own greed. It's an utterly idiotic move. Everyone will be fed up with them, they'll have no public support at all and their bosses won't have to give in because of that, so they'll lose a days pay and be persona non grata to everybody else for absolutely no gain whatsoever.

I mean, is there really nobody at union headquarters saying 'Hold on, is doing something that will mean most of the population would happily punch us in the face really a good idea?'

I wasn't being serious in case you're wondering :)

And I agree with you ;)

I don't think Jon got you confused with what a union member said, but if you used the quote function then there would never be an issue. ;)

I am appalled as well. It worked in the past. It got rid of a Labour government and brought in the most radical Conservative government for years who then went on an anti union rampage with so many laws to stifles striking that the only winners are the lawyers. I see that Cameron is following Conservative thinking and wants to ban strikes.

All I can say is that I hope the A12 doesn’t go on strike that day because I intend to use it to get to the coast and try to avoid as much of the spectacle as possible. London would be a no-go area anyway - Tube strike or no - so it will be a place to avoid.

The quote function makes all the copying and pasting even more dull; you've seen the amount of links I post

'Fox is ridiculously slow in general, and stuff doesn't even paste right with Chrome sometimes :(

I was working in a pub the day of the last big Royal wedding and still could not get away from it. They brought in a TV especially for the event.

Last Royal event I was caught up in was Dianas funeral. I was running a pub and a customer asked if I was going to be closed because of it. I replied in a gentle calm way "Am i [LIFTED]!"
So as a tribute to her Crash by the primatives was played later on that night

I'll be keeping well clear of it. Might go for a walk with the Wench if the weathers nice. Definitely a time for doing something where I can avoid the news completely.

There won't be any news. It'll be a day for burying something massive while the plebs are distracted, like selling the NHS to the Russians or Chinese, or something.

For a few days we will have to start looking through the small news articles after page 20, about any government announcements.

Yes, a nice break away from everything will be required.
