There's an old adage in news journalism: news isn't necessarily what has just happened, but what readers haven't yet heard has happened. We were pointed in the direction of this story today, only to find it actually broke months ago. What the heck. It tickled us. Maybe it will tickle you.
A Brazilian Christian sect has allegedly sought to exorcise the Universal Serial Bus (USB) because its symbol resembles a pitchfork, favoured sinner-spiking implement of one Old Nick, esq.
Well, they do say the Devil has the best tines...
The cult in question, which calls itself Paz do Senhor Amado - "Peace of the beloved Lord" - says, not surprisingly, that this clearly Satanic symbol should be cast out. Or at least unplugged.

Bluetooth, however, is fine, Paz do Senhor Amado preacher Welder Saldanha, told Brazilian site Bobolhando, because blue is the colour of Jesus' eyes.
Bluetooth is, of course, named after a Danish king of customart Medieval viciousness, immorality and oath-breaking, though he did eventually convert to Christianity.
Whatever, before sniggering too much at human credulity, it's worth bearing in mind that, as the Guardian - also late to the story - tells us, Bobohando runs rather a lot of joke stories as well as real ones.
The story, we note, is bylined Acidez Bucal - "acid mouth" - which doesn't inspire confidence. However, the source, one Thiago Caetano, Tweeted at the time that the tale is legit. ®
