How is this anyone's fault other than the child's*?

and of course the parent for a) entering her card details and b) not supervising the child and/or her bank statements.

"I know, I think I'll trust an 11-year-old with my debit card."

Supervision, supervision, supervision....

It was the fact that the machines online account retained the details that allowed him to buy all those extras.

And yet the facts remain:

  • The child bought the extras, not the X-box.
  • The parent both failed to supervise the child and monitor her bank statements for 6 months!

Not denying either of these. I think that she will have to pay these her self and stop his pocket money for several years. Though how many check every single transaction. I do not until I get around to reconciling my computer accounts with my bank statements. Until then I just check the overall balance to see if I am not over spending.

Yeah, if the kid had managed to rack up a grand in a month, they might have some sort of argument. But anyone who hasn't checked their bank statements in 6 months is just retarded.

He looks like he’s on track to being winched by a crane into a coffin at the age of 30. That £1000 of XBox content indicates more than just a parental fail at the XBox & bank account level.
