Spanish police have arrested a man after he allegedly stole the details of thousands of Nintendo gamers and attempted to blackmail Nintendo.
The BBC is reporting that the unnamed culprit managed to hack into the accounts of 'Nintendo users', obtaining the details of 4000 gamers. It's not clear if he hacked Wii Shop accounts, or even if the accounts were taken from Nintendo's network or from a third party.
He then reportedly contacted Nintendo accusing it of negligence and threatening to report it to data protection agencies. When he received no reply from Nintendo he proceeded to leak some of the user information online.
Spanish police arrested him in Malaga before he managed to release all of the details.
Nintendo is yet to comment on the matter as the investigation continues.
We wonder what he asked Nintendo for. A hundred billion dollars, maybe? Or a red Wii and a Big Mac meal? LARGE.
