Somehow, it seems bland enough for me to think that in the long run, people will stop noticing it.

Ofcom has further prohibited products and services that cannot be advertised on TV, including escort agencies and weapons.

That last one will upset Bratty.

Otherwise I do not see much in the the way of problems with it. If the product placement was stupid it would not benefit the advertiser.

At the start and end of the show.

It should be present and blinking whenever a product is being 'placed'.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

That might affect epileptics. Though a big arrow pointing to the product might be just as effective.

Yeah cos that wouldn't be at all irritating or distracting.
It needs to be subtle, like circling the product in question and have spinning CGI arrows appear above it, thereby leaving no doubt as to the product in question.

I'll actually be interested to see if it appears around shows like Panorama and 'news' broadcasts

I would have thought those were banned because they were BBC or news.

Last night's Panorama begs to differ, as do the 'here's a family working out their budget'-type broadcasts... Guess which company's laptop usually gets an airing?

Yes but I doubt that Apple paid for that. I would imagine that the team use them daily so it was natural to use it on screen, plus they look better.

That doesn't explain the news items though, and the Beeb probably shouldn't be leaving itself open to doubt, IMO.

Panorama won't be employing an Art Department, so any aesthetic decisions are pretty up null and void, much beyond the directors choice.
Unless anyone wants to check the credits on the show, I'm fairly confident they'll be missing credits for 'Art Director', 'Props Master' and 'Set Dresser'.
They'll probably have been using the producers laptop.
Which, if you're paid loads by the BBC for looking after budgets and dealing with deadlines, will probably be a Mac Book of some description.
