I kind of feel that this is an intentional strategy to make it look like we can influence government policies. It’s not hugely important on the scheme of things, but generated a LOT of noise. The real stuff - the stuff which will hurt, and which will send us into a new age of Thertcherite unemployment and economic turmoil will continue. We have no hope of stopping that juggernaut. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-12488847

It was a bad decision on purely tax basis. It would have flooded the wealthy with loads more land so that they can avoid inheritance tax. Basically helping them avoid more taxes. And we are supposed to be in this together.

While I worry that you may be correct in that assumption, the amount of noise starting to be made by organisations like UK Uncut means at least we might go down kicking, biting, and screaming. At least, I hope so.

My greatest fear is that we fall in a debt spiral like Ireland. Then the government will cut even more and then we start seeing loads of elderly dying as a result of fuel poverty or neglect in hospitals. The worst thing is that inequality will probably rocket and the Coalition will not care. I wonder if the law about recalling MPs ever gets enacted because many might want to deselect their MP.

Wow, they talk about everybody making savings in "efficiency" and yet this is the umpteenth stupid idea they've wasted time and money on that they, thankfully, have backed down on once they've realised how it will go down.
They're full of crap.
He comes out with so much crap. Take, for example, concerning 'protecting frontline police officers' in the Force. Oh that sounds good doesn't it? Well, no, he couldn't do anything even if he wanted to, they're Officers of the Crown and cannot be fired or made redundant, not in the way civilians can. Arse.
I could rant on, but I shall refrain.
Twats.

The problem is that government services are on average 70% wages, So if you make bug cuts then front line services will be cut. Only an idiot thinks that you can make such huge cuts without impacting on frontline services. Oh right the country is being run by idiots.
