I bloody hate those short URLs. About the only one I can abide is tiny URL but only because it has the preview function.
The rest of the time you've no idea where you're being redirected to, so I either ask the poster or just don't bother clicking them.

How do you preview? Is it automatic, or do you have to go to a website and type stuff in and generally faff about in a long winded way that would be totally avoidable if they hadn't been used?*

The only time I've used them is in something like a signature when the URL was too big to fit the character limit. I generally think they're evil, and a complete waste of time.

EDIT* OK I've found it. I guess that should be good until I clear my cookies, or use a different browser...

There are certain sites, (I'm not sure if Micro Direct are among them, but it is something similar) that doesn't display properly when using the url tags on this forum and the old place.

The only way to link to certain sites is use a URL shortening site.

I dont mind a regular user on a forum using something like TinyURL as you can be pretty sure its a genuine link. But apart from that I'm +1 too.
