Amazon plans to undercut Google's Android Market when the bookseller opens its own mobile app store later this year, according to a pre-launch version of the store that has been discovered on the web.

A researcher for German website Android News stumbled on the page by experimentally entering the URL www.amazon.com/apps. 48 apps, including numerous popular programs, were listed with pricing details, though the download service was not yet active.

From the prices displayed it appears that Amazon plans to undercut Google's Market in most cases, although generally the savings are only a few pence. The biggest price difference was for Scan2PDF Mobile 2.0, which Amazon's page showed at $3.99 on Amazon, while the same app currently costs $6.44 on Google's site.

It also appears the site will offer some exclusive apps not currently available at the official Android Market.

Amazon hasn't confirmed whether the leak is an accurate reflection of its plans for the store, and the page has since been taken down, with the address redirecting to the company's home page.
