Why just new members? If you are to be consistant then all members should be checked. Then there will be miscarriages such as teens who were put on the register for having sex with a person below the age of consent.

There will be a significant cost in vetting these members
Many users will have multiple accounts for 'creeping'
Most users only sign up to look


So of say 10 million members, 1 in 10 will be active subscribers, then only 1 in 10 of those will be using the service at any one time, makes the numbers look good though using total members ;)

Good points. Though active members should be included if they renew.

A membership is a rolling contract so it's not really ever a renewal

I imagine it's like a CRB check - good for ticking boxes but useless for anything else. It won't stop anything.

Even worse as it will give a false sense of security, sure the person might not be a sex offender (including things like being underage or possibly even nudity in public) but what about those who have commited domestic abuse crimes?

I think it's better than nothing, but could be far worse than nothing....
