Experts warned those planning on getting married not to be pressurized by family and friends to overspend on their wedding day or they risk entering married life “saddled with debt”.
Research suggested that while Prince William and Catherine Middleton are unlikely to have this problem with their royal wedding, newlyweds take typically 33 months to pay the debts from their wedding day.
Young couples are most likely to spend the most, with one in five 18 to 24 year olds spending £10,000 on their wedding, according to the study by insolvency group R3.
It found just 9 per cent of those in the 25 to 34, 35 to 44 and 55 to 64 age ranges spend more than £10,000 on their wedding, while just 7 per cent aged between 45 and 54 exceed this amount. None of the over 65s surveyed spend more than £2,500.
Many couples borrow from family or take out additional credit cards or loans to pay for their wedding, with the average amount borrowed being £5,000.

Yes the amount is insignificant overall but it does need to be paid for or recouped somehow.

However I don't really care less at the end of the day as the jets from the flypast went directly over my house so I consider it money well spent.

They didn't fly over mine, but I did watch that bit - always do like a flypast. It was actually a bit of a disappointing one in the end though; you'd expect the RAF to put on a bit more of a show, given he's one of them in theory. The Red Arrows could have shown up, surely... Maybe they've sacked all the other pilots .
