I do think that it looks likely that we will get a retina display HD iPad next year. It would be doubtful that Apple will change iPad dimensions just yet. Though eliminating the bezel might make sense.

I must admit a HD iPad will be brilliant. It will be perfect for streaming 1080p movies to. Even though it looks pretty good on my iPad 2.

i have to wonder if the human eye is sensitive enough to actually make use of such tiny pixels. the DPI must be humongous!!

I think that is the point. Once it hits 300 dpi the eyes cannot determine any higher resolution.

Hence the phrase "retina" I guess, although it obviously depends on your eyesight and how close you hold the device.

2560 x 1600 on 10" is still less than 300 dpi, but it's close. I've been saying for years that we should aspire to screens with the same resolution as the printed page, and this is getting there. We can finally use printable fonts without them being migraine inducing and blurry.

I learnt yesterday that Samsung make diggers. I wonder if Apple will look into that market....

and will only be compatible with Apple-brand iBuckets and iScoops, but atleast it comes in a range of colours, instead of just orange :P
