No s**t Sherlock ![]() Less police = more crime - criminals know they have less chance of being caught. Soft sentenacing = more crime as the scumbags get out quicker to comit it. What we really need are more police and a lot more prisons to get these criminals off the streets and locked up. Won't happen of-course as the government is soft on crime. |

We certianly need more police but do many people need to be in prison? It is remarkably expensive to keep soneone in gaol. If you gave the criminal the money it would cost in exchange for giving up crime, you may find that the crime rate would plummet. Though I suspect that many would resent the fact that they would be getting more than most earn before tax. |

i bet that if you assaulted a villain while they were robbing you or your house/home/property the police would have enough resources to come around and nick you the villain would get a slap on the wrist/asbo/community service but you would get 3 months ... |

+1 It's like that old joke: 999 operator: Hello, emergency services Man: Hello. There's someone braking into my shed. I can see him right now. 999 operator: I'm sorry there's nobody available right now. We'll send someone round tomorrow to take a statement. Man: Oh....... Goodbye. (hangs up the phone) 5 minutes later 999 operator: Hello, emergency services Man: Hello. I called a few minutes ago to report someone breaking into my shed. You don't have to worry anymore. I've shot him. 5 minutes later four police cars arrive and catch the thief in the act. Policeman: I thought you said you'd shot him? Man: I thought you said nobody was available? |

A few years ago my neighbour was attacked and I saw the attacker run from the scene. The police sent a car arround immediately and even drove me around the streets to look for him. The next day the victim was able to identify the attacker and even saw them on the street. The police were no longer interested as it had been downgraded in terms of severity. It was more than two weeks before they got around to arresting him. ![]() |
