A combined air-breathing/rocket fuel aircraft that can get to orbit.

The proposed Skylon vehicle would do the job of a big rocket but operate like an airliner, taking off and landing at a conventional runway.

Please can we have a space programme?

India has one and we give them International Aid. Doesn't seem to make sense in my head.

We should have a bloody city on the Moon by now, and a Martian outpost. Instead we fiddle around with micro satellites and gaze at the Moon with the rosy-tinted spectacles of nostalgia.

We, as a species, are a bloody disgrace when it comes to exploration.

That’s when BAE and Rolls Royce gave a damn about such things.

Indeed. Too much time fighting over oil and territory when we have a bigger problem of being hit by something from space.
