Have to say though, I'm absolutely astounded it wasn't £300+ considering it's Sony

The 3DS is an interesting comparison actually. I think Nintendo were relying on the same factors selling it that sold the DS, without realising those factors don't work for a device that costs £220 rather than £100. The NGP/PSV is very much more a 'premium tech' item that can't really be sold the way they're trying to sell the 3DS at all. It's a very 'early adopter/ gadget head' device rather than a 'mass market consumer' device. If the PSV succeeds where the 3DS has arguably failed, it could have long term consequences for the game market. Of course the significant question is if there's a real market for dedicated game handhelds left at all, given the way the smartphone games market has grown in the last year or two. In fact I don't expect the PSV to be sold at £230 quid, at least not initially. There was some pretty fierce loss leading/bundling on the 3DS when it launched - you'd have to have been pretty lazy to pay more than £200 for it at launch let alone RRP. I expect the same will happen with the PSV. Jon |

It might be where they predicted it should be but the average gamer might be reluctanct to shell out that sort of money on a device. Some where around £100 would be better though with more possible at launch and less after a few years. If this is going to be a consumer device it needs to be a lot cheaper. |
