The EU is at it again: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldne ... ssels.html I'd tell them to **** off - they're hardly in a position to offer "advice" considering the mess the Eurozone is in. |

I'm no Euro fan, but is this kind of oversight really a bad thing? Shouldn't we have some kind of stricture on their increasingly cock-sure approach to deficit reduction?
Yeah, they're answerable to the public once in every five years. After which, they swan about doing whatever the f**k they like.
Yes, we must spare them a few blushes and those awkward uncomfortable moments where they are made to feel accountable. ![]() |

We had a chance to begin that process in May. We said "no". ![]() |

We already have MEPs, so we're already bearing the cost.
I agree, but it's something that would be nice to have, but we don't actually have. Which circles back to my original point about having at least some kind of oversight. |

We might as well disband parliament and hand over all power to them. |

Why should they be exempt from oversight? If our banks collpase it will impact on their economies so oversight is essential. The issue for me is that if the central policy is wrong then everyone is going to suffer the same problem. We have all seen the impact of austerity on Ireland yet we are determined to follow the same path. Great for people wanting to get on the housing ladder as prices collapse. Though it would have been useful to stop some of the excesses from the banks before the crash. If a nation is too arrogant to accept that it is doing some things wrong then it has to suffer the consequences. |
