http://www.leftlanenews.com/bugatti-vey ... 12000.html | | | | Quote: Adding insult to injury, a Polish man accused of stealing a Bugatti Veyron in Switzerland has been slapped with a $521,000 fee for bringing the car into Germany. The man, along with two accomplices, reportedly made off with the Veyron and two other vehicles valued at $2.1 million.
The 28 year old stole the car from Zurich, Switzerland before heading back to his home country of Germany. The scofflaw and one of his accomplices made it across the German border but were quickly apprehended by authorities.
Already sitting behind bars, the car thief is now facing more than $512,000 in various tax and tariff fees. As the car was registered in Switzerland – which is not part of the EU — the car was not legally allowed to enter into Germany. As a result, transporting the car across country lines makes it subject to a 10 percent tariff and 19 percent tax, along with some other miscellaneous fees.
Given the car thief’s chosen profession we doubt he has the funds to dig himself out of this financial hole, but he should have plenty of time to work of the charges while in prison.
The third man remains at large, but authorities did eventually discover the third stolen vehicle abandoned. | | | | |

I like the German authorities attitude. If they cann't get him on theft they can still put him away for years for tax crimes.

Yes especially since they will hunt your millions down in Liechtenstein. For most people it is barely a problem it is the rich who have the most to fear.
