Quote:
Monday Dropbox CTO Arash Ferdowsi revealed in a blog that a code update implemented on Sunday at 1:54pm PST introduced a bug that affected the service's authentication mechanism. The bug was discovered at 5:41pm PST and fixed precisely at 5:46pm. This meant that for nearly four hours, accounts were left wide open for anyone to access without a password.

Well I have since upgraded my drop box password. Though I do wish programs that use drop box would encrypt the data before storing it there.

I keep sensitive files in Truecrypt containers if I have them in Dropbox.

Which, of course, is such an obvious thing to do. You can never be too secure.

Don’t forget to put a plain text file in the same location with the password on it, just in case you forget it and you are away from your post-it note encrusted monitor.

Well it is obvious but sometimes it defeats the purpose, especially if you access files from your smartphone or a tablet.
But I guess we can't have everything...

I have a number of apps on my iOS devices which use DropBox as a filing system. Obviously, data in encrypted files won’t be available unless there is a corresponding app to open them.

Same here, I do wish they had some encryption for data between desktop and iOS versions.

I just don't put sensitive stuff in my dropbox.

I actually don't have much sensitive stuff. Things like complicated passwords that keep changing I just keep on post-it notes on the monitor where they're pretty safe from hackers.
