Customers will no longer be charged a fee for using a debit card, especially those booking with airlines and other travel companies, the Office for Fair Trading has ruled.

I am sure that easyjet and Ryanair will come up with another hidden charge. Though why shouldn't credit cards be covered by this as well. All that they will do is ramp up credit card admin fees.

To be honest it's almost every company these days. And it's been going on a long time with P&P beforehand anyways.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Err, perhaps because the credit card companies charge more for the transactions?

Remember, debit cards don't give credit while credit cards give up to 2 months "free credit". Someone has to pay for that "free credit".

No the actual tramsaction charges are fine but an £8 admin fee for a 40p fee? So if your bank charges a fortune then switch cards. As the report said that the admin fees could add another £60 to the flight cost. Yet this could be higher than the flight cost.

Credit cards do cost the merchant more though. My fees are the same as a debit card (20p or thereabouts) + 2% of the total.

Yes but I did suggest then could allow credit card fees that were representative, not a £8 admin fee per person per leg regardless of the actual cost.
