I had a travel adapter that was extremely similar in design.

Been thinking about this = yes moving parts break. Also, the BS standard for our plugs requires the socket is shielded, so the folding plug should not be able to carry a live current unless it’s fully unfolded. It‘s a nice idea, but it could be a death trap.
