The Government says superfast broadband is vital to Britain's economy and will announce new funding next week. But a new Ofcom map reveals widespread inequality.

I am a 1 but I would like to see the rest of the country brought up to speed rather than concentrating in the big cities.

That is why I want to see a minimum standard for the country rather than just the big cities.

Total pigswill, we're supposedly a 3 but all we can get is 3G wireless internet, no broadband for those of us 8.2km from the nearest exchange. Also, the engineer said that anyone with more than about 6km of rotten string between them and the exchange would be lucky to get reliable service.

That map is about as much use as a one-legged man in an ar$e-kicking contest.

Are we really supposed to believe that broadband speed varies according to local authority? Try again.

Local authorities have practically no influence in the speeds local communities get.

That's the point I'm making.

If the local authority is irrelevant to the data, why map that data according to an irrelevant criterion?

So how should they have mapped the data then?
