If a HDMI cable has to have HDMI plugs at both ends does that mean DVI-HDMI are "unlicensed" as well? |

So, how are you supposed to connect your laptop or desktop with DP or mini-DP to your monitor or TV? It seems a bit petty and is just going to put consumers off of the HDMI standard - DP is a better standard anyway, it allows for higher resolutions and more throughput. Why don't they work with said manufacturers to come up with a way of testing and approving the crossover cables? |

I saw hope in the statement: "We do recognise that there may be a market need for a cable solution rather than a dongle solution. However, at this time, there is no way to produce these cable products in a licensed manner." And still, the dongle solution is still viable, so it's a bit of a shoulder shrug here. Yes, it means two cables rather than one but hardly a big chore. |

Good. DP and HDMI need different voltages and, despite some chipsets having dual modes, you're still reliant on that dual mode being done correctly, which it mostly isn't. Do it properly and get an active convertor. |

Well they are still sold on eBay and the Apple store. I bought mine off eBay, just in case I do want them in future. Chances are I will. |

Buy a tv/monitor with a DP connection, I know Dell make monitors with them Either that or use a dongle on the monitor end or use displayport to DVI |
