Will it really make any difference to the games? The market's thriving in terms of overall sales and there's already something for everyone :?

Yes, but wasn't there a report saying women didn't like the long hours? I think that most games companies would like a female perspective even if it helped minimally. I suspect that many female games developers might actually be more attracted to the app market as they can develop games that they like.

Remember John Romero? The iD software bloke who got far too big for his boots and made the woeful game Daikatana. His girlfriend was apparently a level designer at iD (ahem). I seem to recall she posed for Playboy or FHM or some such. You think that's what they mean?

Have things changed? When I was at my Grammar/High School there were just as many lasses in the Science and Maths courses as there were lads.

I think kids are allowed to opt out earlier now.

Doubt it, the industry treats staff pretty poorly, we had 2 on our course, one hard working, very capable and good to work with. The other it was her 2nd degree and couldn't work with others at all, former works for ccp, other was made redundant a year ago and not heard about since

That is typical of any industry. They feel there are thousands out there wanting a decent job so will accept any crap when they have a job.

Not in the same level as the game industry

There are thousands out there for the games industry because people think it is a job they want to do, just because they like playing games, in fact most of the very good game developers I know barely play any computer games at all

The crap of not getting paid especially on a low wage would have me leaving soon after finding this out

This isn't even small developers either, even the devs on LA Noire made allegations of the conditions working on the game

The fact that they did not credit them is appalling. Especially as credits are valuable to software developers.
