Well Murdoch does own Harper Collins, so I guess it's possible.

If she goes to gaol it probably won't be too bad, I read somewhere that prisons are more like 5* hotels these days. Same for the laid off staff, they'll be receiving 5 bed homes and 50k a year on benefits according to other reports.

:P

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

IIRC if she goes to gaol wont the proceeds from any book deal to do with hackgate therefore be considered profits from criminal activity and therefore be confiscatable?

Something tells me there is a time limit, but that could be an Australian thing due to the time I've spent there. :?

Interesting mix of comments on there. I especially liked this one:

As much as job losses have a terrible impact on someones life, i fail to have any sympathy for the NOTW staff.

Ever since they got into bed with the Tories, they have gleefully told public sector staff that redundancy is necessary to save the country, pay cuts are essential, pension cuts are needed. Strikes are outdated and militant and strikers are lazy and out of touch. Also public sector staff who are laid off will be able to get one of the hundreds of thousands of jobs that Dave has heroically created.

Well, suck it up. If its good enough for others its good enough for you. You're being sacrificed for the good of News International. Deal with it the way public servants have to. Sun staff have walked out in protest? Bloomin hypocrites!

You can now all go and get the same jobs in Tesco that you expected teachers, nurses and policemen to take up. Enjoy!

I'm guessing they happen to be a civil servant of some sort.

It will be interesting to see how New International justifies the closure of the business. I'm struggling to see how this isn't going to be unfair dismissal for the vast majority of the staff. Obviously NI will manage to justify it but they really shouldn't be able to get away with scapegoating several hundreds of people who had naff all to do with the hacking in the first place and, by all accounts, were pretty profitable for the group.

Murdoch and co really should be taken to the cleaners over all of this.

As I said in the other thread, it goes beyond the workers.

As Cameron hasn't appointed a judge yet it means a proper, full, investigation isn't underway. By the time it is many of the computers and data may have, well, inadvertently disappeared...

I doubt that this will be resolved to the satisfaction of the public though will they even remember it come election time? Will Cameron have cosyied up to the Sun on Sunday?

So how will appointing a judge quickly stop any attempt at destroying evidence. None! But it make it look good for a politician to ask for!

Err because the Judge will have legal powers to have any relevant equipment he/she deems necessary to their investigation to be seized.

It'd have to be a force other than the Met, I think. The Met hasn't exactly covered themselves in glory with this case. I'd say they've covered themselves with something altogether less savoury.
