Yes but the US consumer is pretty cash strapped so such a hike is un justified. I am surprised it is not more. Though I suspect that customers will pick one service rather than pay for both. Though if they give up the streaming I suspect that many will be giving up broadband as well. Without a reason for broadband people will switch to cheaper access.

Yes the studios are blaming them for their problems, but the studios release them too quickly. Years ago it used to be three years before terrestrial viewers could see a film. Though that period is getting shorter and shorter and it is impinging on DVD sales and premium movie channels. Though considering that Sky will repeat a film endlessly each month means that it could be impacting DVD sales. The problem is that US consumers are seriously squeezed financially and such services are considered a luxury.
