Sounds about right to me, though I'm sure Sony and MS have their own crappy plans for digital distribution ;)

Good games will always do well. The app store does give smaller developers a chance of hitting the big time with a decent game. The fact that Apple really saw the advertising potential of Infinity Blade showing off the capability of the iPad was a huge boost to its sales. I bought it after seeing the ads.
