Does that apply to Chief Constables as well? I think that a better punishment is to strip them of some of their pension. Sending them to prison just costs the state money, plus if police officers know that a possible outcome is that they lose even more money through having a years pension contribution taken from them it means that they would either ask for even more or not consider it. The majority of the police are pretty good. It is those higher up the ladder that have the opportunity to take advantage of the information that they have. |
