A 13 year old has come up with a new way to lay out solar panels that provides a 50% boost compared with conventional flat arrays.
I do wonder however, how many 13 year olds have even heard of the Fibonacci sequence.

Still, well done young man.

They missed a trick there.

He put one and one together and then put two and one together ...

Two and two makes twenty-two.

From reading the comments, it seems that his methodology was flawed.

I thought that was kinda cool. I remember being excited by discovering mathematics in nature when I was about the same age, and I was even ranting about sunflowers just a few weeks ago. Maths is so cool.

I don't think it is as much as 50%, but it does gain more energy over a longer period. Plane panels will not peak till the sun was directly overhead. The leaf method effectively averages out the energy gained over all the leaves so might not have the same peak, but will average higher for longer. So power gained is higher overall. While it is a clever solution I do not think it should be patentable.
