http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink ... -tins.html

Quote:
A tin of Cadbury's Roses now weighs 1lb 14oz, down from 2lb 2oz, while a tin of Heroes now contains 1lb 12oz of chocolates, just over 5oz less than last Christmas, according to trade magazine, The Grocer.
The reduction is the equivalent of about 11 fewer chocolates in each tin. It means there could be more competition than ever to get hold of your favourite at family Christmas gatherings.
The manufacturer, which was taken over by Kraft Foods, the American giant, last year, said it decided to shrink the weight of products rather than pass on the full price rise to shoppers.

They don't even taste like they used to, never mind charging the same for less

This shouldn't really be a surprise, not after we found out that Cadbury reduced the size of it's chocolate bars but increased the price of them towards the end of last year.

+1, there's a lot of factors, but basically the recession was a great excuse for a lot of BS

Yes the margins on them have probably gone up as well. If they carry on like that they will put people off. It might be better to get proper chocolate rather than the mush that the big manufacturers produce.

They also dropped mini rolls from 12 to ten a year or so ago.

Do manufacturers think wer're too stupid to notice? Cheese in tesco dropped from 400g to 350 when I bought last week. It's happening to everything pretty much. Wouildn't be surprise it teabags have less in.

I'm sorry, but we're a nation of lardy-arsed, type 2 diabetes candidate idiots. Smaller portions of crap is not a bad thing.
Consider how long before they give up taking these measures and just start sacking people?

For the last couple of boxes I've drunk, I've been concerned that the tea isn't as strong as it used to be.

If you want good strong breakfast tea get hold of some Rintons tea. Glorious stuff :D
