Police and national park officials are investigating after a 4x4 vehicle has been left near the summit of Snowdon again.

It comes less than a month after a similar incident with the same vehicle. It is not known who drove the Vauxhall Frontera up the mountain this time.

Snowdonia Mountain Railway staff arrived to find it parked near the summit visitors centre.

Jeepers. How old is that link?

The machine was hauled down on a train about a fortnight ago. I even blogged about it!

Are you sure it's not a repeat?

It's the same vehicle, that's what caught me. I stand corrected.

Which begs the question, how can they not know who did it. They have the license plate after all, it should be easy to track.
And how did that person get it back after the first time?

Well, apparently the vehicle was left in the care of the Snowdon Mountain Railway people. I read somewhere the owner, who owned up to the previous stunt, was going to auction the vehicle and give the proceeds to the mountain rescue people.

It's a mystery, to be sure.

Indeed, the first time it was brought down on the Snowdon railway. And I also heard the story about it being auctioned for charity on eBay. I didn't hear whether it had though.

As to how they wouldn't know who got it up there, I don't think they have CCTV on the way up Snowdon. If the guy from the last time says he sold it and has proof, they might struggle. Although technically I think until the V5 update goes through he's still the 'registered owner' and would be liable for it's recovery.
