Doesn't sound like a big deal really. Download the games over WiFi but then you can still play them wherever.

It's the other functionality that's implied by Sony themselves though, you've gotta be 'social' these days... We'll need more info as to what it relates to.

If I was getting one, I’d get the WiFi only one and use my 3 MiFi dongle for downloads. The problem with these 3G enabled devices is that each one requires some form of payment contract. There’s no way to share your sim between devices (well, you could but there tend to be clauses against such activities in the T&Cs). What is needed is for mobile operators to recognise this, and allow, say, a 5 device or 10 device service.

Yes that is why I did not bother with a 3G iPad. I do not need an expensive contract for a device I may rarely use outdoors. A multi device contract would make it more viable, then if you wanted to add the data bundle to an ordinary phone deal it makes sense.
